Job Description

Reporting relationships

Reports to: Managing Director (London), Senior Team Manager (Mumbai)

Primary functions & responsibilities

Commercial Results

  • Serve as a trusted voice to the internal SRM & IR Team on materials, investor focus areas, and fund data

  • Fully task manages the Mumbai IR team that involves coordinating the team to prepare deliverables in time to meet reporting cycle deadlines without delay

  • Differentiate themselves as a critical member of the IR Mumbai team in carrying out more complex subject matter expert workstreams with little help and intervention from senior team members

  • Recognize which inbound queries (internal and external) the Mumbai-based team can address and react accordingly

  • Main point-of-contact for Associates and Analysts on IR Mumbai projects within a specific product

  • Demonstrated ability to answer in-depth ad hoc investor inquiries independently

  • Supports content creation using their product knowledge to craft effective marketing messages

  • Continue to seek and implement efficiencies across management of tasks

Communication

  • Intermediate presentation skills; trusted to present product-specific information to internal stakeholders across the Mumbai office

  • Excellent written communicator demonstrated through quarterly reports, responses to clients and tailored product-specific updates (where applicable)

  • Able to provide constructive feedback to Associates and Analysts to help improve their verbal and written communication skills

Team & Leadership

  • Actively participates in hiring and developing junior resources to create a culture of engagement, motivation, and positivity.

  • Informally lead/mentor junior team members in both day-to-day work and team projects; manages processes to deliver materials

  • Help manage underperforming candidates to bring them in line with expectations for their grade

  • Understands where to prioritize time for highest impact and redirects workstreams to most critical areas of focus and value

Personal Impact & Effectiveness

  • Recognition of gaps in own skill-set, strong judgement and decision making, communicating with conviction, humility, process improvement mindset and handling ‘the grey’ areas

  • Continued maturity that aligns with the firms growth, using a solutions orientated mindset, to overcome internal obstacles and limitations

  • Raise awareness of their role and impact within the team, also across the local office, where there is not necessarily always an obvious path to create visibility of their impact

  • Able to build relationships with global team members and across Investment teams within Mumbai as well as broader Management team within the region.

Qualifications

Education: MBA/ CA and bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or another pre-professional field, or a discipline with exposure to accounting or corporate finance.

Experience Required:  12+ years of relevant work experience. Investment banking / Asset Management firm / Alternative Investments / Credit or Private Equity Investor Relations.

General Requirements:

  • Strong modeling skills

  • Experience with asset management systems or other relational databases

  • Experience at a regional, national, or global financial services firm

  • Self-starter, exceptional communication and organizational skills necessary

  • Ability to work independently as well as with “the team”

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacy

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
