Position Overview:

The Vice President, Ambulatory Operations Sacramento Division plans, executes, monitors, and evaluates assigned operations and programs within the division. They will lead the company in a way that realizes the division mission and ensures excellence. They will provide collaborative executive leadership across a broad range of responsibilities, from strategic planning through operational execution, including oversight of management agreements for multiple services. The role serves as the primary administrative liaison among the CEO (Chief Executive Officer), medical staff, foundation, division leadership, and Sutter Health System leadership, while ensuring the delivery of exceptional operational services in full compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements. This position serves as a role model to caregivers and represents the division positively both internally and externally. Exercises necessary, appropriate authority and accountability for the facility's assigned areas, including quality of care, financial stewardship, service line development and caregiver engagement. Is responsible for implementing and monitoring policies and procedures that ensure high-quality, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Incumbents will work with service line leaders to promote planning, innovation, and problem solving to align with local and system strategy. Has authority and accountability for the assigned portfolio areas, including patient satisfaction, quality of care, financial goals, operational performance optimization, service line development and capital/facility planning.

Job Description:

EDUCATION :
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field is required.

  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience demonstrating effective management of a hospital is required.

  • Prior experience demonstrating effective organizational performance improvement skills.

  • In-depth working knowledge of integrated healthcare organization and administration, compliance, and applicable laws is required.

  • Experience integrating healthcare systems into a continuum of care is required.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare administration, strategy, finance, planning, physician relations, human resources, and capital planning.

  • Knowledge of regulations affecting healthcare delivery is required.

  • Familiarity with unionized healthcare environments.

  • Knowledge of hospital operations, federal and California state regulations, accreditation standards, and Title 22.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Public speaking and persuasive presentation abilities.

Additional information:  The primary office location for this position is Sacramento, CA.  This role requires residence within the Sutter Health footprint of Northern California and the ability to travel throughout.

Pay Range is $329,368.00 to $445,619.00 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
