Adjunct Research Assistant

The position will entail participation in field operations and analysis of data collected by our research group’s air-sea flux buoy and instrumented UAVs. Experience is required in the areas of analog electronics, functional scientific programming. In-person activities will entail fieldwork and research system development.

Duties/Responsibilities

(70%)

  • Field operations, including tending to buoy and operating research aircraft

  • Development of new observational tools for performing fieldwork

(20%)

  • Data analysis and visualization

    • Scientific programming in MATLAB and/or Python

(10%)

  • Scientific/engineering technical writing, for the purpose of sharing results in peer-reviewed academic journals

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Pursuit of B.S. in Ocean Engineering, Physics, or a related field

  • Experience with data processing and analysis

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Strong oral communication skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team of engineers and scientists

  • Organization ability

  • Sense of care and responsibility for sensitive research equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfort or experience working in a field research environment

Compensation Pay Range:

$19/hour
