Upper School Computer Science Teacher
Responsibilities
Head-Royce School is seeking a Computer Science teacher to join our Upper School Math and Computer Science Department. We seek teachers who are not only excited by the content they teach, but who are also actively engaged in evolving their classroom pedagogy. We welcome candidates from both traditional academic pathways and those transitioning from industry who are excited to bring industry experiences into our classrooms.
Head-Royce teachers serve as advisors and club sponsors and participate in the life of the community. We seek applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in culturally responsive teaching, a deep understanding of adolescents, and a genuine fondness for working with students at this specific age level.
About the Program
At Head-Royce School, computer science is not just about learning to code; it’s about learning to make, learning to build, and learning to think critically about what we create. Students design games, train models, explore systems, and create solutions to real problems, developing both technical skills and a sense of agency as creators in our rapidly changing world and with our rapidly changing communities locally. We offer a 4+ year Computer Science program designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of computing while also providing advanced opportunities for creativity, technical depth, and real-world applications.
Across all levels, the program prioritizes character, creativity, and intellect while advocating for ethical engagement with technology. Students are encouraged not only to build technical skills but also to think critically about the role of computing in society and their own potential as creators and problem-solvers.
