Underwriting Technician

Make your mark in Warranty

The Underwriting Technician will report to the Warranty Insurance Operations team and assist with monthly reporting, booking and reconciliation needs. This role will predominately service the U.S. and Canadian Warranty programs.  This Underwriting Technician position reports directly to the Global Program Manager to ensure all premiums and claims are loaded into the financial ledgers, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete. There will also be significant interaction with Finance, Controllers, Claims, Underwriting, and Technology departments.

How you will create an impact:

  • Convert Premium and Claims Bordereau into booking sheets

  • Book Premium into Financial Systems

  • Book North America Reinsurance. 

  • Support quarter and yearend financial close activities.

  • Work with Collections and Cash teams to ensure all incoming cash is applied correctly.

  • Contribute to special projects as needed

  • Own monthly premium and claims reconciliation processes to ensure that booked premiums and claims tie back to the bordereau reporting.

  • Support VP Insurance Operations, Account Management, Actuarial, Underwriting, and business teams with ad-hoc reporting as requested

  • Support Insurance Operations team to improve process documentation.

  • Contribute to special projects as needed.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Strong analytical capabilities, time management, communication and organizational skills.

  • Experience with technical tools and concepts such as Database design, SQL, MS Access, Excel, and Visio.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, accounting, finance, or business

  • 2+ years of experience in business operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to execute effective operational plans.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a large-scale organization.

  • MS Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
