Associate/Professor-Pediatric Ophthalmology (Section Chief)
Position Summary The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric ophthalmologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology Duties Responsibilities Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Ophthalmology for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education. Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio. Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs. Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services. Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Ophthalmology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients. To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Direct and conduct his/her own research in Pediatric Ophthalmology Provide care for patients with Ophthalmologic diseases admitted to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics. Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care. Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
