Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now looking for a new Testing Quality Specialist to join our team at ABB Oy, Smart Power in Vaasa. As a Quality Specialist you will be responsible for developing supplier testers and tester processes. You will be part of Quality & Continuous improvement function. You can be just graduated engineer or more experienced testing professional; the position responsibility can be adjusted according to your previous work experience and competence. Your main role is to act as an active and co-operative driver inside the manufacturing factory ensuring continuous tester quality development. In this position, you play a key role in the quality processes of the world’s leading automated low-voltage switch factory.


Please note that to best support our supplier collaboration, this position includes travel (approximately 40 days annually).

The work model for the role is: hybrid

Additionally, you will be accountable for:

  • Defining, implementing, and installing new concepts for testing in the supplier manufacturing process, production devices and user interfaces
  • Participating in defining specifications for new testing/digitalization investments in collaboration with the suppliers, colleagues and IT department
  • Building and maintaining visual controls and metrics aimed at delivering performance data for decision making (PLC, Data loggers)
  • Controlling and analyzing the measuring devices of the test systems
  • Help identifying and removing barriers to implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

Qualifications for the Role 

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. level degree from a related technical field
  • Basic IT, analytical and systems skills with the ability to coordinate and communicate efficiently
  • Basic knowledge of interfacing with PLC and communication protocols
  • Familiar with instrumentation, and measurement technologies (NI-DAQ, NI-DIO, GPIB, Serial communication)
  • A proactive and systematic way of working with attention to details and quality-focused mindset
  • Fluency in English and Finnish, both written and spoken
  • Ability and willingness to learn to gain knowledge and develop skills
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW, TestStand and other programming skills are seen as benefit.
