Test Engineering (AI & Automation) Intern - Summer 2026
Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Test Engineering (AI/Automation) Intern located in our Memphis, TN site.
Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and IT professionals.
What a typical day looks like:
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware (scanners, printers, PCs, tablets, handheld devices) and support maintenance of warehouse networks, Wi-Fi coverage, and access points.
- Help configure user accounts, permissions, and devices under supervision of IT staff and perform system checks and routine preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment.
- Provide basic support for Warehouse Management System (WMS) tickets and issues.
- Monitor system dashboards and identify abnormalities in material flow.
- Assist in testing new features, patches, and system updates.
- Document system workflows, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Support development of AI-enabled tools for forecasting, quality checks, and bottleneck detection.
- Analyze warehouse operational data using Python, SQL, or Power BI.
- Build small AI/ML models (e.g., anomaly detection, demand prediction, image classification) under mentorship.
- Assist in implementing AI technology for barcode verification, predictive maintenance, and cycle count optimization.
- Evaluate large datasets to identify trends and make recommendations.
- Work with engineering teams on RFID, IoT sensors, AGV/AMR support, or conveyor control data flows.
- Participate in process-mapping sessions to identify automation opportunities.
- Help develop digital tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Excel macros) to streamline warehouse processes.
Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
- Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (undergrads only).
- Basic understanding of networking, operating systems, and troubleshooting.
- Coursework or experience with AI/ML concepts (classification, regression, NLP, computer vision, etc.).
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, or Power BI is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in active warehouse environments.
Internship Program Requirements:
- Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
- Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
- 3.0 minimum GPA
