THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux / Unix Administrator & Automation Lead to drive the transformation of our infrastructure into a modern, automated, and cloud-ready ecosystem. Reporting to relevant technology leadership, you will lead platform modernization initiatives while remaining deeply hands-on in automation, scripting, and system optimization.
This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who enjoys mentoring teams, shaping strategy, and translating legacy environments into scalable, resilient, and future-ready platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will:
Infrastructure Leadership
Own the architecture, administration, and lifecycle management of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Unix (AIX, Solaris) platforms
Define and deliver the roadmap for infrastructure modernization, automation, and cloud adoption
Lead initiatives to standardize, simplify, and optimize core infrastructure services
Automation & Scripting
Design and implement automation frameworks using Ansible, including playbooks, roles, and CI/CD integration
Develop and maintain operational tooling using Python and Bash to reduce manual effort
Champion Infrastructure-as-Code and automation-first practices across teams
Cloud Transformation
Partner with architecture and engineering teams to plan and execute cloud migrations
Evaluate legacy systems and define modernization strategies, including virtualization, containerization, and hybrid-cloud models
Establish operational best practices for cloud governance, security, and cost management
Operational Excellence
Ensure high availability, performance, patching, and security hardening across Unix and Linux environments
Lead troubleshooting of complex, multi-layer technical issues
Maintain compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
Collaborate closely with application, security, and DevOps teams to align infrastructure with business objectives
Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
SKILLS
You should have:
At least 7 years of hands-on experience administering Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Unix (AIX, Solaris) systems
Strong expertise in Ansible for automation and configuration management
Advanced scripting capabilities in Python and Bash
Proven experience leading modernization or cloud-migration programs
Solid knowledge of networking, storage, virtualization, and security principles
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and influence key stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Familiarity with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
Exposure to GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk
Relevant certifications in Linux, cloud, or automation technologies
