Technology Optimization Manager (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Technology Optimization Manager (m/f/d), who will ensure the best performance of complete plastic treatment lines of our plants. Based in the Oslo area, main focus will be optimization of complex technical processes at Områ, also travelling to our other European based plants to support there 25% of the time.  

Responsibilities of the Technology Optimization Manager (m/f/d): 

  • Optimize complex technical processes and thus the performance of plastic treatment lines in sorting / grading plants, mainly Områ 

  • Develop and evolve new purifying options as well as new classification programs for different materials & installation at sorting plants 

  • Train in- & external stakeholders at plant operation and support in case of technical questions 

  • Support technical concept and design of new sorting / grading plants

Belonging to TOMRA Horizon, who explores new adjacent business opportunities and alternative business models leveraging the TOMRA technology, our business model at TOMRA Feedstock is to acquire mixed plastic waste from incinerators and operate plastic grading / sorting plants that turn the mixed plastic into a sellable feedstock stream for recyclers. Our first plant Områ, located in Norway, is operational since 2025.

  • 5+ years of working experience in a similar role in technical optimization, preferably in a sorting / grading plant 

  • Creative personality, thinking outside of the box to develop innovative classification approaches 

  • Interested in acquiring or bringing a profound understanding of recycling processes and specifics of plastic waste 

  • Strong communication skills, being able to make complex technical processes understandable to non-technical stakeholders and adapting per target group, being fluent in English with Norwegian and / or another European language as a plus 

  • Readiness to travel to other European plants for ~ 25% of the time  

 

Educational background 

  • A technical university degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, process engineering or waste management 

  • Qualification as electrician for specified tasks would be a plus, as well as being able to drive forklifts or alike vehicles 

 

Other skills / abilities  

  • Thinking along and completing assigned tasks independently  

  • Solution-oriented team player with intercultural competence 

  • High mobility, readiness to travel to plants and business partners on a frequent basis
