Technical Team Lead
Title:
Technical Team LeadBelong. Connect. Grow. with KBR!
We at KBR share one goal: to improve the world responsibly as a company of innovators, thinkers, creators, explorers, volunteers, and dreamers.
About the Position:
The Technical Team Lead is a senior OMES III role for a technically credible leader who leads from the floor, not just from a desk. Responsible for the full scope of day-to-day I&T operations, this individual directly supervises a team of engineers and technicians owning task assignment, resource coordination, and schedule execution across all active integration and test work. As the primary accountability point for I&T facility execution, the Lead ensures every task is properly assigned, resourced, and driven to completion in alignment with program requirements, safety standards, and customer expectations. This is not a purely managerial role; the ideal candidate brings 10+ years of hands-on I&T experience and has grown into leadership without leaving their technical roots behind. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the on-site technical lead overseeing all hardware integration, test execution, and verification activities at the I&T Facility.
Provide technical direction to engineers and technicians, ensuring work is performed correctly, safely, and per approved procedures.
Review and approve test procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation prior to execution.
Serve as the primary technical liaison to program leadership, the customer, and other functional organizations.
Support design reviews, TRRs, and post-test debriefs as the I&T technical representative.
Identify and resolve technical issues during integration and test activities, escalating to program management when warranted.
Maintain the facility in a safe, organized, and operationally ready state at all times.
Develop and refine facility SOPs to reflect current best practices and program lessons learned.
Directly supervise the I&T team — owning task assignment, workload distribution, and day-to-day performance oversight.
Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance check-ins, and annual evaluations per company HR processes.
Identify training and development needs; coordinate appropriate certifications and cross-training opportunities.
Onboard new team members to facility procedures, safety requirements, and program expectations.
Foster a team culture grounded in technical excellence, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Ten or more years of technical experience in aerospace integration, test, systems engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Demonstrated prior experience in a formal or informal technical leadership role, including task assignment, team coordination, or direct supervision of engineers or technicians.
Hands-on experience working in an Integration and Test (I&T) facility, test lab, or hardware assembly and verification environment.
Experience developing, reviewing, or executing test procedures, test plans, and test reports for mechanical, electrical, or systems-level hardware.
Working knowledge of configuration management practices and engineering documentation standards (e.g., discrepancy reports, non-conformance reports, as-run procedures).
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, develop work schedules, and coordinate resources across multiple concurrent tasks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively interface with customers, program leadership, and cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with safety practices and hazardous operations controls applicable to aerospace test and integration environments.
Prior experience supporting NASA J programs, organizations, and I&T facility operations.
Experience leading teams in a government contractor environment, with direct personnel management responsibilities.
Basic Compensation:

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and in consideration of internal parity.
