eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields.  We are looking for a Technical Procurement Manager (f/m/d).


Responsibilities:

As a Technical Buyer, you are responsible for procuring highly complex, often custom-specified components required for the development and construction of our quantum computers. You work closely with physicists, hardware engineers, and project managers, translating technical requirements into robust procurement decisions. This includes evaluating specifications, feasibility, supplier quality, and risks. A further focus is export control compliance and the responsible handling of sensitive technologies.

Technical Purchasing & Supplier Management

  • Procurement of high-tech components including optics, lasers, RF/microwave, precision parts, electronics, vacuum technology, cryogenics, and specialty materials

  • Technical analysis and evaluation of specifications, drawings, tolerances, and bills of materials

  • Verification that ordered components meet the technical requirements of physics and engineering teams

  • Selection, qualification, and development of suitable suppliers in Germany and internationally

  • Requesting, evaluating, and negotiating quotations, often with small, highly specialized suppliers

  • Coordination of sample parts, prototypes, and Series 0 production

Interface with R&D / Physics / Engineering

  • Close collaboration with optical, microwave, ion trap, firmware, and hardware engineering teams

  • Technical support to project teams regarding material selection, manufacturing processes, alternative solutions, and supplier feasibility

  • Support of make-or-buy decisions

  • Early involvement in development projects to ensure procurement feasibility and short realization times

Export Control & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with German, European, and US export control regulations (BAFA, Dual Use)

  • Classification of components in cooperation with Legal, Compliance, and Engineering

  • Review of end-use statements, supplier documentation, and country-specific restrictions

  • Responsibility for correct and compliant ordering of critical technologies

Cost, Quality & Scheduling

  • Preparation of cost forecasts and sourcing strategies

  • Negotiation of prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and technical conditions

  • Close monitoring of schedules, availability, and project risks

  • Cost optimization without compromising quality (Value Engineering)
