Technical Pre-sales Senior Consultant
Job Purposes You will identify, find and formulate value solutions for customers using KBC’s flagship Petro-SIM flowsheet simulator and industry leading reactor models. Work as part of a cross-functional team including Business development (BD), services and software support specialists. This role will combine engineering knowledge, simulation software skills and business acumen to help sustain and grow KBC’s software business in Europe and the ME. The post will require you to be confident in using KBC’s Petro-SIM software to provide first line technical sales support and demonstrate the software. Learn how software and emerging technologies such as digitalization can be used as an enabler for the wider KBC business to provide optimum solutions for our clients. Key Tasks: Serve as the technical expert during the sales cycle, articulating the value and capabilities of our simulation and data analytics platform. Understand client operations, challenges, and KPIs—translating them into software-based solutions. Prepare and deliver customized product demonstrations, presentations, and proof of concepts. Collaborate with the sales, product, and engineering teams to align customer requirements with product capabilities. Build and present use cases that using first-principles modeling. Respond to RFPs and technical questionnaires with accurate, persuasive content. Engage with prospects during pilots/trials, ensuring technical success and satisfaction. Responsibilities Process Design Engineering - Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters. Engineering Solutions Design - Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards. Engineering Standards Specification - Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Engineering Inspections - Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Contract Management - Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan. Improvement/Innovation - Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response - Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract. Knowledge Management System - Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility. Product and Solution Development - Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems. Project Management - Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan. Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree, Equivalent Level, in Chemical / Process Engineering or related technical field. General Experience: Substantial relevant work experience together with comprehensive job related experience and engineering expertise to fully competent level. Technical sales experience would be an advantage. Knowledge of refinery/petrochemicals industry and processes. Knowledge of up/mid-stream and other industry sectors such as chemicals, fertilizers and related industries is a plus. Proven capability in process simulation as an end user and/or a software vendor. Familiarity with one or more process simulators (Petro-SIM, Unisim, HYSYS, PROII) is required. Working with solutions such as Digital Twins, RTO, OTS. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical content for diverse audiences. Proven ability to interact with customers, build credibility, and influence decision-making. Willingness to travel (up to 25–40%) to customer sites, conferences, and trade shows.
