Position Title: Technical Advisor – Program Quality, Accountability & Coordination

Department: West Africa Ministry Team (WAMT)

Location: On-site in either office location in Mali, Niger, or Nigeria

Reports to: Regional Director, West Africa Ministry Team

Status: 1.0 FTE, Exempt

PURPOSE

The Technical Advisor – Program Quality, Accountability & Coordination is a senior regional leader responsible for strengthening program quality, accountability, learning, and risk management across World Renew’s West Africa Ministry Team (WAMT). Rooted in World Renew’s Christian identity and values, the role supports the Regional Director by translating WAMT’s strategic priorities into coherent, context-appropriate technical direction across fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
The role functions as a regional integrator and enabler, coordinating regional technical staff and aligning global standards with local realities to strengthen country ownership, learning, compliance, and collective accountability, without replacing country leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Regional Coordination

    • Coordinate and harmonize regional technical direction in service of the WAMT strategic plan, ensuring strategic coherence while respecting country autonomy.
    • Operationalize the One-WR approach by strengthening collaboration, role clarity, and shared accountability across regional and country teams.
    • Support the Regional Director in translating strategy into prioritized and realistic technical actions.
    • Advise the Regional Director and Country Directors on program quality, compliance, adaptive management, and innovation.

    Compliance, Risk & Duty of Care

      • Oversee compliance frameworks aligned with donor, legal, safeguarding, and internal standards.
      • Advance Newday accountability commitments through ethical stewardship, transparency, and shared responsibility.
      • Coordinate risk mitigation and support audits, reviews, and incident responses.
      • Frame compliance as a moral responsibility reflecting World Renew’s Christian commitment to dignity and protection.

      Program Quality, MEAL & Learning

      • Strengthen coherent MEAL systems embedded in program design and implementation.
      • Promote a Newday-aligned learning culture emphasizing reflection, community voice, evidence, and adaptive leadership.
      • Facilitate regional learning forums and synthesis of lessons for leadership decision-making.

      Digital Integration & Innovation

      • Ensure digital solutions align with One-WR principles and remain realistic and inclusive for fragile contexts.
      • Support data integrity, responsible use, and decision-support systems.

      Capacity Strengthening & Leadership Development

      • Line-manage and mentor regional technical staff within a matrix leadership model.
      • Contribute to WR Global leadership commitments through succession, delegation, and localization.
      • Strengthen capacity of country teams and partners through coaching and peer learning.

      Donor Engagement & Representation

      • Provide high-quality technical input to proposals and reports.
      • Accompany the Regional Director and Country Directors in strategic donor engagements as required.

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Provides line management to regional technical staff, in close coordination with Regional Director. The role enables coherence and quality but does not replace country leadership accountability. 

        QUALIFICATIONS

        • An actively practicing Christian with participation in a local Christian community and a strong commitment to Christ and Integral Mission. 
        • Proven ability to coordinate and mentor diverse technical teams without direct operational control.
        • Strong working knowledge of donor accountability, compliance frameworks, audits, and safeguarding standards.
        • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within teams and communities served.
        • Strong servant leadership approach with demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills. 

        EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

        • Master’s degree in international development, public policy, humanitarian studies, social sciences, or a related field required.
        • Additional professional certification in program quality, compliance, MEAL, safeguarding, or organizational leadership is an asset.
        • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in international development, humanitarian assistance, or nexus programming, including experience in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
        • Demonstrated experience providing regional or multi-country technical leadership within a matrix or federated organizational structure.
        • Experience supporting organizational learning, adaptive management, and quality improvement at scale.

        LANGUAGE SKILLS

        Fluency in English and French with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
