- Manage all facets related to the maintenance and repair of all technical equipment onboard regarding the Deck, Engine, and Hotel areas of the vessels.
- Manages maintenance, docking and newbuild projects and budgets..
- Assume personal responsibility for safety and NCLH's impact upon the environment.
- Responsible for maintenance and operation of all technical equipment onboard, including budget responsibility.
- Plans and schedules maintenance, technical work dry-dockings and wet dockings.
- Plans and schedule refurbishments in cooperation with Refurbishment Director.
- Makes sure that the ship's maintenance system is strictly followed including monitoring of AMOS.
- Ensure safe and optimal technical as well as economical operation of the ships.
- Ensure that ships comply with Class flag state SOLAS and USCG requirements.
- Boards ships with specific problems, direct and assist ship's Management with problem solving and whenever required.
- Approve and controls all purchase orders for deck and engine.
- Ensures that ship drawings, instruction books, survey reports certificates and all other technical documentation is up to date and kept in good order.
- Review along with Vice President Technical Operations and Director Fleet Personnel that deck and engine staff is adequate and up to standards.
- Responsible to give a brief monthly summary and a complete, Semi Annual condition report for each ship to Vice President Technical Operations.
- Responsible for giving input to Vice President Technical Operations regarding foreseen problems and projects in order to plan capital projects and budgets.
- Is familiar with and carries out SMS responsibilities.
- Ensures that the technical personnel for the ships which is responsible for are familiar and comply with the SMS.
- Ensure that any non-conformities with regard to the SMS or applicable rules and regulations are documented, corrected in a timely and appropriate manner, and are reported to Vice President Technical Operations and Vice President Safety & Compliance by the ship.
- For all electrical matters to direct and work closely with Electrical Support.
- Work closely with Environmental & Regulatory Compliance to review the status & upkeep of the Ship's Action Log.
- On visits to their ships, will look for, and note, any environmental or safety equipment or procedural concerns.
- Any concerns will be conveyed to Vice President Safety & Compliance and Vice President Technical Operations verbally or in writing in a timely manner..
DEGREE TYPE:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Marine Engineering or Industrial/Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years combined experience in Passenger Ship Operations, including but not limited to experience at sea covering technical managerial positions..
- Managerial experience, personnel management skills, ability in coordinating activities, adequate knowledge of computer and information systems..
- Possession of a Chief Engineers Unlimited license.
