Role Summary

This role requires strong strategic thinking, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to mentor junior team members. The ideal candidate should have in-depth experience in Windows Server administration, virtualization (VMware), DevOps/Scripting, and server operations. The role involves managing physical and virtual server environments, performing migrations, ensuring system performance, and supporting cloud and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Windows & VMware server operations, including builds and rebuilds of physical and virtual servers.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of Windows servers (2012/2016/2019) with strong troubleshooting and performance tuning abilities.

  • Perform server hardware operations including RAID, ILO, Firmware, and vendor platforms (HP, IBM, DELL, Lenovo).

  • Oversee VMware environments across vSphere (5.x, 6.x, 7.x), including deployment, configuration, and management.

  • Execute P2V, V2V, vMotion, and vCenter operations.

  • Manage VRA, HA, DRS, and virtual resource allocation.

  • Ensure compliance with service provider security and operational standards.

  • Perform OS patching with WSUS or other patching tools, including troubleshooting patch-related issues.

  • Customize OS images using scripts and automation.

  • Manage AD domain, users, FTP, IIS, DNS, DHCP, and related Windows services.

  • Support migration projects and cloud initiatives (AWS, Azure preferred).

  • Use DevOps and scripting (PowerShell mandatory) for automation and operational efficiency.

  • Support multiple projects simultaneously with strong design-level thinking.

  • Maintain documentation, performance monitoring, and service-level reporting.

  • Work collaboratively with global teams, ensuring strong communication and high-quality service delivery.

  • Provide leadership and take initiative in project execution and issue resolution.

Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Server OS (2012, 2016, 2019).

  • Strong experience with server hardware operations (RAID, ILO, Firmware, HP/IBM/DELL/Lenovo).

  • DevOps and Scripting experience is mandatory.

  • PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

  • Strong VMware Administration:

    • vSphere 5.x / 6.x / 7.0

    • Deploy, Configure, Manage

    • P2V, V2V, vMotion, vCenter

    • VRA, HA, DRS

  • Experience with VMware + Windows combined environments.

  • Knowledge of server, storage, networking fundamentals.

  • OS patching experience using WSUS or similar tools.

  • Windows-related applications installation and administration.

  • Good understanding of virtualization technologies.

  • Knowledge in: FTP, IIS, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory domain & user management.

  • Understanding of compliance/security standards.

  • Experience supporting multiple applications and enterprise environments.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Cloud experience: AWS / Azure.

  • Knowledge of tools: WSUS, Zabbix, HPOA, Trend Micro Antivirus.

  • Strong data analysis skills for performance monitoring & service-level management.

  • ITIL process knowledge (Incidents, Changes, Requests, Problems).

Soft Skills

  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.

  • Excellent written and oral communication (global interaction).

  • Self-motivated with leadership qualities.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
