Supplier Quality Engineer
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring purchased material and components meet requirements, development, and performance management aligned to AS9100 and applicable customer/regulatory standards. The role drives supplier RCCA, manages RMA/returns with timely disposition, and leads proactive follow-up with suppliers to improve delivery, quality, and cost. The SQE partners cross‑functionally with Sourcing, Operations, Engineering, and Program teams to enable flawless launch (APQP/PPAP) and sustainment. Own supplier quality performance (PPM, escapes, on-time-quality) and drive improvement plans. Ensure Quality Management System compliance with AS9100 for supplier-related processes; support internal and external audits. Part of supplier qualification/approval including risk assessment, process audits, and capability studies (MSA, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plan). Lead APQP/PPAP for purchased parts; validate special processes and critical characteristics. Manage RMA/returns and MRB for supplier-caused nonconformances; ensure timely containment, disposition, and cost recovery. Facilitate structured Supplier RCCA using 8D; verify effectiveness and prevent recurrence via systemic actions and change control. Review supplier process audits (AS9100/AS9145 elements, special processes, NADCAP where applicable) and follow up to closure. Use data to prioritize issues, report trends, and drive continuous improvement using ELSS/EQS tools. Collaborate with Sourcing for supplier development, capacity validation, and escalations; support supplier business reviews. Define receiving inspection strategies (sampling, gauges, FAIR/FAI review) and improve incoming acceptance quality. Provide training on supplier quality requirements, RCCA, and AS9100 clauses to internal teams and suppliers. *Follow up with the suppliers for quality and documentation issues. Bachelor's degree in Engineering 8-12 years in manufacturing/industrial environment with minimum 5 years in Supplier Quality within Aerospace. Deep knowledge of AS9100 and AS9145 (APQP/PPAP), FAIR per AS9102, GD&T, SPC/MSA, PFMEA/Control Plan, RCCA/8D, auditing, and special processes; familiarity with NADCAP preferred. Experience with RMA/MRB, cost recovery, contracts/CoQ, and ERP/QMS workflows. Strong communication and stakeholder management with suppliers, assertive follow-up, analytical problem solving, project management, presentation, and time management.
