About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Training Development and Delivery, this role will partner closely with the back‑to‑back Supervisor Training Delivery to lead and oversee the team responsible for delivering training products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations across Olympic Dam.

 

You will support and enable the team to deliver an outstanding learning experience for new and existing employees, as well as in‑scope contractors, ensuring learners are equipped to work safely and productively while contributing positively to our culture of safety, respect, care and inclusion.

 

This role is based at Olympic Dam on a 8/6 days only roster with options of FIFO from Adelaide, DIDO from regional area’s or residential at Roxby Downs.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead the team to deliver high‑quality training programs to intended audiences, ensuring program objectives are achieved and effective learning transfer occurs for each participant
  • Maintain clear accountability for the planning, scheduling and delivery of BHP‑run courses to meet operational and compliance requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement across training delivery practices, capability and products
  • Champion multimodal approaches to training delivery, ensuring fit‑for‑purpose learning solutions that meet diverse learner needs
  • Lead the team to develop and embed efficient, disciplined BOS practices within training delivery
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to identify training needs and lead the development, review and continuous improvement of curriculum in line with the Training Governance Framework
  • Ensure appropriate controls, including critical controls, are implemented and maintained to effectively manage training risk and compliance

 

 

You will also lead your team to ensure an engaged and high performing team that deliver high levels of customer service, including but not limited to:

 

  • Provision of effective coaching and ongoing development to team members to build capability and performance
  • Establishment and management of cross‑skilling across the team (including self) to ensure effective coverage and operational resilience
  • Ensuring timely compliance with individual training requirements and site compliance obligations
  • Managing workforce planning activities, including the scheduling and approval of staff leave
  • Ensuring Field Leadership requirements are met and consistently applied

About You

 

  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing and managing high‑performing teams, with a strong focus on capability uplift and engagement
  • Initiative, leadership and the ability to work with minimal direction, taking a proactive, resourceful and solutions‑focused approach
  • A strong passion for continuously improving training delivery, including introducing innovative learning approaches enabled by technology such as Extended Reality (XR) and Virtual Reality (VR)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within mining, processing or heavy industry (preferred)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience and working knowledge of mining and major hazardous facilities risks, including relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • A working knowledge of BOS would be highly beneficial
  • Proven ability to build and sustain highly effective working relationships across a broad range of stakeholders and working groups
