Position Summary (Purpose and Fundamental Goals of the Position):
Shift: Weekend Day Shift, 12-hr shifts, 1st week: Thursday-Sunday, 6am-6:30pm, 2nd week: Friday-Sunday, 6am-6:30pm
Comply with applicable quality regulations as identified by the organization while managing the sterilization process and ancillary equipment. Also assists Team Leader in operating the sterilization process to ensure quality processing.
Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 tasks & outcomes for which this position will be accountable):
Perform chemical receipt into Sterilization. Monitor chemical inventory of nitrogen and ethylene oxide. Connection / disconnection of hazardous chemicals to process equipment (i.e. ethylene oxide).
Operates material handling equipment and moves material through all steps of the sterilization process.
Documents all steps in the sterilization process in accordance with established procedures including JD Edwards and SAP computerized inventory management system.
Initiates maintenance of work orders when applicable. Maintains plant facilities and equipment through “user level” preventative maintenance as defined by procedure(s).
Ensure required training for example, Master Control and C2C are completed on/by due date.
Essential resource for training other sterilization associates (i.e. Sterilization Operators).
Assists with various monthly reports for the purpose of tracking departmental performance.
Participates in the safety team, audit activities, and operational process improvements.
Movement and loading of pallets via forklift.
Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience (No. of years as well as type of previous experience needed e.g. exposure to high growth markets, managed a large team, etc.):
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent, with preferably some technical or college education.
Minimum 2 years material handling experience
May need to take a Fit Test and pass with/without reasonable accommodation and wear a Respirator when required.
Professional Skills & Key Competencies (5-7 most relevant skills e.g. data analysis and competencies e.g. ability to manage uncertainty) examples listed below:
Able to operate material handling equipment.
Able to prioritize tasks and workflow. Planning will take into account assets (time, equipment, and product) available.
Computers competence
Strong leadership and motivational skills are required.
Desired / Additional Skills & Knowledge (Not essential to the job but will be an adavantage to possess):
Inventory management experience is desirable.
Must have good oral and written communication skills, to read and comprehend simple instructions and write short correspondence / memos (English is preferred language).
Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations and apply various operational tasks.
Must be a self-starter.
Position requires good logic, reasoning ability, ability to define problems, and find logical solutions.
Able to apply policies and procedures to work situations and use judgment in selecting appropriate actions.
Significant deviations from established policies and procedures will be referred to management and / or Team Leader.
Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Employees are required to meet with other personnel in other areas of the building. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must participate in annual medical surveillance for exposure to ethylene oxide and fitness to wear a supplied air respirator and employee must be able to wear a tight-fitting supplier air respirator without any facial hair which could interfere with respirator seal.

During the performance of this job, the employee may be in hot and humid locations, near moving mechanical parts, high places, risk of electrical shock, work with explosive gas, toxic and caustic chemicals, or experience loud noise (maintenance shop, forklift equipment, and construction). Must be able to work “off” hours with minimal supervision, as required.
