Staff Software Engineer I

Join our team and you’ll be responsible for building a state-of-the-art platform that powers integrations with our partners and streamlines flow of data across many companies. 

Working in the Feeds domain, you will design and evolve software that integrate complex dependencies, ensure reliability, and deliver high-quality solutions both to our internal and external customers. 

By joining as a Staff Engineer you’ll be the key person leading technology and a role model for this area. 

 

Your responsibilities: 

  • Architectural leadership – design and evolve scalable, resilient system architectures using DDD; own key architectural decisions and manage system dependencies and integrations. 

  • Data-driven insight & decision-making – provide technical trade-off analysis, evaluate performance, scalability, and cost, and track system health and technical debt with meaningful metrics. 

  • Cross-functional collaboration – work closely with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to align technical roadmaps with business goals and select appropriate tools and frameworks. 

  • Mentorship & technical excellence – mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and promote best practices, analytical thinking, and continuous improvement 

  • Execution & reliability – oversee critical systems and APIs, drive cloud and container optimization, ensure dependency resilience, and maintain high quality through structured testing strategies. Ability to support team hands-on if required. 

  • Java expertise – expert-level Java (17+), deep understanding of JVM internals, concurrency, performance tuning, memory management, and strong knowledge of DDD, design patterns, and functional programming. 

  • Spring & reactive frameworks – advanced experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and reactive programming models. 

  • Event-driven architectures (Kafka) – deep knowledge of Kafka internals, fault-tolerant event-driven design, stream processing, schema management, and delivery semantics (ordering, idempotency, exactly-once). 

  • Cloud & container platforms (AWS) – strong proficiency with core AWS services and hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS/EKS. 

  • Infrastructure, scaling & observability – experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation), system scaling strategies, and modern observability tools (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana). Deep expertise in relational database design and performance tuning, with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
