Staff Software Engineer | Front-End Technical Leader | Hybrid | Budapest

GE HealthCare is looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Technical Leader) to join our Advanced Visualization team. This team delivers core platform functionalities that enable radiologists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other clinicians to efficiently navigate and utilize advanced applications for reviewing and analyzing CT, MRI, PET, and other medical imaging modalities. These tools support critical workflows such as diagnosis, pre operative planning, and treatment follow up.

The selected candidate will lead a team composed of 2-3 software engineers primarily focused on Front-End development. This role includes significant responsibility for defining designs, implementing, and continuously improving the team’s owned areas.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Engage in technical discussions; drive technical designs, presenting it to Architects, Managers and Engineers.
  • Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goal
  • Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Take responsibility to identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
  • Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation
  • Seek and provide feedback on design and development
  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
  • Help in designing interfaces and information exchange between modules
  • Understand the importance of improving quality through constant reviews and testing.
  • Provide guidance to a small team with either planning and execution and/or design architecture.
  • Work with Product Leaders to understand product requirements & vision

Qualifications / Requirements

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

Technical Expertise:

  • Expert in Frontend development and the usage of micro frontend architecture.
  • Expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practices.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
  • Proven hands-on experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Unix / Linux side programming.
  • Experience working with distributed systems and containerized applications using Docker and K8S.
  • Experience with development testing and creating Unit Tests and Auto Tests.

Preferred Qualifications (Differentiators)

Not mandatory but considered a plus:

  • Experience with Playwright auto tests.
  • Knowledge in NodeJS.
  • Knowledge in Java.
  • Knowledge in Scripting languages used in debugging, preferably Bash/Shell.
  • Experience with software pipelines CI/CD.

Location and Work Schedule

  • Budapest - Vaci Greens Office, 13th District
  • Flexible hybrid model: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote each week
