The Role:
We are looking for a Staff Process Development Engineer. As a Process Development Engineer in the Engineering Operations group, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to solve the world’s most complex problems. Engineering Operations works across IonQ’s technical teams, often at the intersection of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product, solving problems and implementing solutions to increase company speed and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and understand pain points, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in existing approaches and processes within engineering and partner teams.
- Capture and refine the NGOs (needs, goals, objectives) and requirements for successful process solutions using input from end users and stakeholders.
- Develop methods to achieve process NGOs and meet requirements, including creation of project plans and solution proposals.
- Conduct trade studies to analyze and select software tools as required for process development efforts.
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
- Secure buy-in from key stakeholders such as managers, TPMs, and executives for process proposals.
- Development, implement and roll out process solutions independently or as a lead with vendor and contractor support.
- Create resources for end users including training materials, help pages, and procedural documents.
- Manage communications, announcements, and user questions related to your process areas.
- Proactively monitor process and software tool effectiveness for continuous improvement opportunities.
Requirements:
- 8+ years experience as an engineer in a complex operational environment or as a lead on engineering delivery projects.
- Certification or experience with Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, or other similar methodologies.
- Adeptness collaborating across diverse communication, collaboration and management styles.
- Ability to align stakeholders with diverging opinions and drive towards a common solution.
- An extreme ownership mindset that underlies how you approach problems.
- A systems engineering, program management, and/or configuration management background.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of a variety of business process approaches.
- Technical writing experience.
- MBA.
- Experience with IT systems and tool administration.
- Experience managing and collaborating with vendors to complete projects.
- A love of building and fixing systems and processes.
The approximate base salary range for this position is $126,887 - $166,127. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
