Position Overview

The Staff Engineer, Bioinformatics will develop, advance, and support large-scale analysis of multi-omic data, through application of existing and novel methods. They will be responsible for developing scalable pipelines for cloud and HPC environments. The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in data science and software development, along with the ability to work cross-functionally with wet-lab and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large-scale multi-omic data to delineate technical artifacts from biological signals.

  • Design and implement novel computational methods to improve signal detection and reduce compute costs.

  • Develop and maintain robust analysis pipelines.

  • Build and optimize reproducible workflows in cloud and HPC environments with attention to cost and scalability.

  • Identify and resolve technical artifacts through cohort-level and assay-aware analysis.

  • Partner with wet-lab scientists to diagnose and address assay artifacts.

  • Communicate findings clearly and contribute to technical decision-making.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Ph.D. in computational biology, computer science, statistics, genomics, or related field

Required:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in bioinformatics or closely related roles.

  • Ability to distinguish biological signal from technical noise using a variety of statistical, machine learning and deep learning methodologies.

  • Proficiency in programming languages frequently used for both ad hoc and scalable production multi-omic analyses.

  • Experience developing reproducible workflows in cloud or HPC environments.

Preferred:

  • Experience optimizing compute costs at scale

  • Experience developing commercial products
