About the Role
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Target RWE Finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance. This role owns the day-to-day execution of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliation, and general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and eager to contribute to a collaborative and growing finance organization.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner within Bill.com
- Manage the full AP cycle from invoice receipt through payment execution
- Administer the employee expense reimbursement program using Concur Time and Expense, ensuring compliance with company policy
- Reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis
- Maintain vendor records and support annual 1099 filing
Accounts Receivable
- Generate and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms and project milestones
- Monitor AR aging and proactively follow up on outstanding balances
- Apply cash receipts and reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger monthly
- Partner with project delivery teams to resolve billing discrepancies
Cash Reconciliation
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
General Accounting Support
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals and prepaid amortization
- Support the monthly and annual financial close process
- Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation as requested
- Maintain organized and audit-ready workpapers and account reconciliations
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and system utilization
- Support ad hoc finance projects and reporting as assigned by the Head of Finance
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 1-2 years hands-on accounting experience preferred, with demonstrated exposure to AP, AR, and general ledger functions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach
- Growth mindset with a willingness to learn new systems, processes, and responsibilities in a fast-evolving environment
- Comfort operating in a startup environment where priorities can shift and initiative is valued
Preferred
- Experience with Nexonia, Concur, Bill.com, and Sage Intacct
- Motivated self-starter who thrives with consistency and clear day-to-day expectations
- Experience in a professional work environment
- Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition concepts
