Position Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager, Financial Accounting and Reporting - Finance

Location: Solon, OH

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the for the Tarkett North American Accounting Shared Service Organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with completion of the month-end close processes including consolidation and maintenance of closing files, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support schedules
  • Execute intercompany billing processes and ensure timely and accurate transactions
  • Perform intercompany AP/AR balance reconciliations to support financial reporting accuracy
  • Monitor SAP for intercompany processing errors and coordinate resolution efforts
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Review credit card transactions for proper account coding and compliance with internal control policies
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances
  • Support financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, FP&A, IT)
  • Assist with audits by providing required documentation and support
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analyses as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–3+ years of accounting experience (public or corporate)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • Experience with reconciliation tools (e.g., BlackLine) preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement
  • Exhibits high level of curiosity to develop understanding of the business
