Sr. Production Systems Engineer
We're building safety-enhancing technology for aviation that will save lives. Automated aviation systems will enable a future where air transportation is safer, more convenient and fundamentally transformative to the way goods — and eventually people — move around the planet. We are a team of mission-driven engineers with experience across aerospace, robotics and self-driving cars working to make this future a reality.
As a Sr. Production Systems Engineer, you'll be a part of the Production organization. This is a small but growing team of highly motivated people who are passionate about delivering quality products and services with velocity and unquestionable value. You’ll bring the technical leadership and strategic vision required to grow and scale Reliable Robotics production. In this role, you’ll own business systems and factory infrastructure (e.g., MES, ERP, MRP), ensuring seamless integrations that maximize quality and performance. You will also be responsible for AI augmentations, development of production processes, installation of factory infrastructure (e.g., printers, inspection equipment), and development of real-time analytics. The projects you work on will set the foundation for how the business operates for years to come. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a safety-critical environment that takes automated aviation systems from prototype to production in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
In your role as Sr. Production Systems Engineer, you will work with the design, manufacturing, test, and flight teams to architect work-streams, ensure compliance, and drive optimizations across the business. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with technicians in the factory and on the plane, architect scalable systems from the ground up, and watch your processes digitally thread the first certifiable autonomous aircraft.
Other responsibilities will include:
Develop and manage production systems to ensure compliance with manufacturing processes, quality protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Plan, develop, and drive the creation of new features and modules with current and future Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) partners and our internal tools team.
Perform trade studies and drive decision-making and execution on business systems and infrastructure.
Derive, automate, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the business and provide recommendations for design, product, and process improvements.
Analyze production operations to identify areas for improvement and troubleshoot supply chain, manufacturing, installation, quality assurance, and reliability issues.
Troubleshoot business systems, integration, and data-related issues while ensuring high system uptime and data integrity.
Basic Success Criteria
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, software engineering, or a similar advanced degree.
5+ years of professional experience in production or operations, with significant hands-on experience in business system implementation, configuration, and optimization.
2+ years of programming experience in Python, C#, or SQL with an emphasis on data analysis, data pipeline architecture, and automation.
Strong expertise in analytics, metrics definition, and dashboard development using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
Experience developing engineering infrastructure such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Material Resource Planning (MRP), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Preferred Criteria
2+ years of experience with quality management systems (e.g.,14 CFR 21.137, AS9100, etc.) or other similar regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, digital twins, and advanced manufacturing analytics.
Experience integrating PLC/HMI, SCADA, and industrial automation platforms.
Solid understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical process control.
Experience with quality, manufacturing, and/or design systems and processes
Experience evaluating, defining, strategizing, and executing production system architectures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
