Job overview and responsibilities

 

This position leads the Network Operations Center (NOC) Line Maintenance Planning Team in administering all routine and non-routine planning functions for its fleet of 750+ modern aircraft while ensuring all required items are scheduled within their maintenance program limits. The Senior Manager reports directly to the Director of Line Maintenance Planning. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining all departmental plans, policies, and processes while meeting the demands of a growing flight operational schedules. This position also requires a technology-based mind-set able to develop, test, implement and train the Line Planning Team on new software platforms.
 

  • Lead the Line Planning Team in effectively scheduling and executing United's aircraft maintenance programs
  • Effectively schedule is defined as obtaining necessary routing requirements to manage workload to the available resources
  • This scheduling must avoid adverse impact on the operation by preventing operational delays and, above all, maintaining all airworthiness standards
  • Manage and oversee United's Line Maintenance Planning’s operation including the management and coordination of departmental resources, daily available Maintenance labor, facilities, materials, tooling and aircraft availability
  • Implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure the airworthiness of all aircraft including the compliance of all time-controlled inspections, components, engineering directives, and deferred log pages and MEL
  • Coordination of any government, airframe manufacture or company directed programs, while maintaining focus on reliability, cost and daily operational performance
  • Develops and fosters positive cross-departmental relationships while maintaining an open line of communication with the planning teams, maintenance stations, maintenance control, engineering, and other project management groups
  • Coordinates maintenance planning activities with the Senior Manager, Line Maintenance Field Planning
  • Manage departmental IT solutions and enhancements for productivity and reliability improvements
  • Responsible for creating and achieving prescribed company objectives (KPI’s) and interdepartmental goals and objectives related to fleet reliability, cost, productivity, customer service, and team members by using strong analytical skills to implement long-term plans into day-to-day operations
  • As designee, initiate, track and investigate short-term escalation and MEL extensions
  • Create, update and maintain departmental GMM manuals while ensuring all processes are adhered to including oversee training
  • Provide subject matter expertise in cross-departmental projects, initiatives, or inquires
  • Engages and participates with cross-departmental teams such as Aircraft Records, Engineering, Supply Chain, publications, maintenance programs, regulatory and task implementation on changes to fleet maintenance programs
  • Manage and develop team by communicating job expectations, monitor performance, effectively coaching, and rewarding results

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation technology/engineering or management and/or FAA Airframe and Powerplant License

  • 7 years of aircraft maintenance industry experience 
  • 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong background and in-depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to maintenance programs and procedures, aircraft maintenance systems and aircraft routing
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of aircraft maintenance planning processes
  • Strong people and time management skills

  • Green belt certification in Lean or Six Sigma
  • Project Management certification
  • 5 years of maintenance planning experience
  • 7 years in an aircraft maintenance leadership role
  • Technical knowledge and understanding United's maintenance platforms and programs
  • Knowledge of sceptre
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning software digital tools
  • Ability to perform data analysis of large datasets using Foundry or other digital analytical tools

 

 


The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
