Sr. Counsel, Energy Products, EMEA
Tesla is looking for a Senior Counsel, Energy Products, based in our Amsterdam, Netherlands, office to support the growth of our global energy business. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Energy Products, you will focus on our residential, commercial & industrial and utility-scale solar and energy storage and supercharging businesses in EMEA and our expansion into emerging markets. Our ideal candidate would have a big-firm background in (energy-focused) renewable energy equipment sales and service, project development, construction, infrastructure and project finance deal work and be passionate about creating amazing abundance for the world. - Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory and transactional matters for the Energy business in the EMEA region, including commercial and consumer matters
- Assist with structuring and negotiating Energy Product sales, service and project finance and development-related transactions including equipment supply, EPC, O&M, commodity, software, real property, interconnection, performance guarantee, warranty and other material project agreements for solar, energy storage and supercharger projects of all sizes, support project development and mergers and acquisitions transactions and have a good familiarity with financing-related matters
- Advise on the sale, installation and maintenance of Powerwall and Megapack, and on energy commodity offerings, both direct to consumers and through channel partnerships, and support the business as it seeks to grow at scale around the EMEA region
- Review and help prepare responses to requests for proposals and other competitive tenders
- Support new market entry and new product launches for the Energy Products business around the EMEA region
- Liaise with colleagues in support of consistency of contracts and risk allocation across the global Commercial business
- Liaise with our International Corporate team to establish and administer new corporate entities in EMEA
- A current licence to practice in one or more EMEA jurisdictions
- A minimum of 10 years’ practice experience at a well-regarded law firm, with in-house experience at a company in the energy industry strongly preferred
- Experience structuring and leading negotiation of large transactions in energy, construction, project finance or a related practice area, with a preference for renewable energy experience
- A team player with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, and identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
- A quick and flexible learner, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change
