The Job You Will Perform:
This position is responsible for the support of the sourcing of Capital Equipment, Engineering and Construction services related to Converting capital projects. This position reports to the Manager of Sourcing – Converting Capital. Engagement typically involves purchases that are greater than $100,000. This role includes purchase order and system management, procurement strategy development, advanced analytical tools, negotiations, contract administration, warranty enforcement and ongoing supplier management. Situations can require acting in a lead or team member role. Assignments can involve any Converting facilities and includes support/leadership for relationships with strategic global suppliers. Travel is required (less than 25%) and is based on business and project demands. Individual has responsible for approximately $50 million in annual expenditures.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide safety leadership through modeling of safe behaviors and ensuring adherence by suppliers in regard to their Insurance certificates, ISN Safety grades, and sustainability goals and opportunities
Serve as a key team member throughout the Project Delivery Process. Responsible for completion of project procurement strategy in Prometheus for assigned capital projects. Provide input in cost estimation, potential supplier determination, contract and risk mitigation strategy and project schedule; includes payment schedules and other commercial activities. Work with Converting Capital group and Capital Coordinators to understand project pipeline and monitor through approval.
Work in concert with Converting Plant, Manufacturing, Engineering, Capital and Business teams to deliver on business objectives. Monitor project prioritization and commercial awards to ensure timely conversion to PO at the plant level.
Execute PO creation process for Memphis Converting Capital Purchasing Commitments
Achieve targeted cost reductions. Achieve through application of the Strategic Sourcing process, understanding of available technologies, global bidder selection, effective buying strategies, negotiations and value-based decision-making.
Assist Converting facilities in Procure to Pay (P2P) problem resolutions and invoice reconciliation.
Conduct quote analysis of historical data of price increase/decrease for main suppliers
Complete payment terms analysis
Review Converting spend and try to identify potential suppliers to reach out to for contracting opportunities
Participate and assist with Supplier Relationship Meetings, including tracking and reporting supplier performance, escalation of supplier issues as appropriate and running and analyzing surveys
Promptly handle requests to ensure stable supply and timely availability of materials and service while following up with vendors regarding order status
Obtain maximum value for IP regarding cost, quality, delivery and service levels thru methods such as negotiation
Ensure adherence to IP Corporate financial and purchasing policies and procedures
Lead and participate in activities that continuously improve department effectiveness through application of Manufacturing Excellence tools, identification of opportunity areas and effective communication with all stakeholder groups.
The successful candidate is expected to complete a rigorous onboarding plan within the first 3 months to ensure:
Understanding of basic equipment, technical and operational principles critical to the box making process.
Understanding of process, policy and legal aspects of procurement
Understanding of the Project Delivery Process (PDP)
Understanding of established Category Strategies

- Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, and fall protection in elevated positions
- Will be required to work extended hours as needed
- Must be able to work in both an office and manufacturing environment

Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Business Management, Marketing, Logistics, Transportation, Purchasing, Engineering, Operation Management, or Material Management)
Authorized to work in the United States
Self-starter as demonstrated by prior summer or intern work experience and/or involvement in campus activities, clubs, student government, etc.
Ability to work independently and the ability to act as a team player including the strength/ability to stand alone when necessary.
A strong customer focus is important for collaborating and interfacing with stakeholders.
Geographic flexibility
Effective Written & Verbal Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Proficient in computer use with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, Access and Outlook
SAP Business Software Knowledge Preferred
