Solutions Rep III
Overview
The Managed WiFi Sales Engineer serves as the primary technical resource supporting the sales organization throughout the lifecycle of Managed Internet and Smart Building opportunities. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and technical solution design, ensuring proposed solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with customer expectations and service-level commitments.
The Sales Engineer partners closely with Account Executives, Product, and Operations teams to design and present managed WiFi and network infrastructure solutions for multifamily, student housing, and build-to-rent communities.
This position requires a strong combination of network engineering expertise, consultative sales skills, and customer-facing communication ability.
Responsibilities
Sales Support & Solution Design
- Partner with Account Executives to qualify technical requirements and develop tailored managed WiFi solutions
- Design property-wide managed network architectures including:
- Fiber and Ethernet distribution
- MDF/IDF layouts
- Wireless access point placement
- Core switching and routing
- Redundancy strategies
- Translate customer business objectives into technical solutions
- Provide technical leadership during the sales cycle
Technical Consulting
- Conduct discovery calls with property owners, developers, and IT stakeholders
- Evaluate existing infrastructure and recommend upgrade paths
- Provide technical guidance on:
- Network architecture
- Cabling requirements
- Circuit design and redundancy
- Equipment standards
- SLA alignment
- Perform remote and on-site technical assessments
Proposal Development
- Produce technical designs and supporting documentation including:
- Network diagrams
- Equipment lists
- Scope-of-work documentation
- Assumptions and exclusions
- Support pricing and margin analysis
- Assist in development of RFP responses
Customer Presentations
- Deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders
- Explain complex networking concepts in clear business terms
- Present architecture recommendations and tradeoffs
- Support executive-level solution reviews
Implementation Handoff
- Ensure accurate handoff of projects to implementation teams
- Review final designs with project management and engineering
- Support project kickoff meetings
- Provide technical clarification as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Sales teams
- Engineering
- Product management
- Implementation teams
- Support teams
- Provide feedback on product gaps and market needs
- Assist in development of standardized designs
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years in network engineering, sales engineering, or managed services
- Experience designing WiFi networks in multifamily, hospitality, campus, or enterprise environments
- Experience with managed service providers or ISPs preferred
- Experience supporting technical sales cycles
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
- Enterprise WiFi design
- IP networking fundamentals
- Switching and routing
- VLAN design
- DHCP/DNS fundamentals
- WAN architectures
- Circuit provisioning
- Network redundancy
- Structured cabling standards
- MDF/IDF design
Experience with:
- Ruckus, Juniper, Cisco, or similar platforms
- WiFi heatmapping tools
- Network diagramming tools
- Proposal tools
- CRM systems
Preferred certifications:
- CWNA/CWNP
- CCNA or equivalent
- Network+
