The Position
The Solution Architect focuses on designing business-driven, standards-based, and future-ready solutions within a specific solution context. In this role, you will design a scalable, business-aligned data architecture for ERP Demand-to-Pay (D2P) analytics that meet product requirements, business priorities, and enterprise standards while managing non-functional requirements (NFRs) and fitness functions. You will develop and maintain the product's technology roadmap, provide technical oversight to product teams, and evaluate new technologies to continuously improve existing solutions and manage technical debt.
Description of the area
The Demand to Pay (D2P) Data & Analytics area is responsible for driving the end-to-end Procurement, Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense Management Data & AI strategies, by translating Functional strategies into measurable business outcomes. This includes supporting data product management and providing comprehensive analytics for our key stakeholders - Global Procurement, Diagnostics Direct Procurement and RSS Operations. This work is based on the foundation of the Roche Group Data & AI strategies leveraging various global platforms.
Job Responsibilities
Define End-to-End Data Solution Architecture
Design how D2P data is collected, integrated, and consumed
Establish platform strategy (cloud / on-prem / hybrid)
Own Data Platforms & Components
Architect data pipelines, DataProducts, and catalogs
Define ownership, governance, and lifecycle management
Drive Architecture Strategy
Implement Decentralized, or Hybrid models
Balance consistency, scalability, and domain ownership
Establish reusable patterns for data integration, sharing, and governance
Support Information Architecture:
Support business team in data governance (data risk, data privacy, retention policy, anonymization obligation, etc.)
Support other data domains in connecting D2P to other domains (Both ways, reused and sharing)
Support Data Mesh based data Management framework.
Apply recommendation for Global Data Strategy for cataloging and shopping experience
Lead Data Modeling
Define Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data models and semantic layer for AI
Align business processes (Demand → Procurement → Payment) with data structures
Enable Analytics & AI
Design scalable AI data & analytics solutions across structured/unstructured data, including NLP pipelines, embeddings, semantic search, RAG, Generative AI, and Agentic AI systems
Build cloud-native (AWS/Azure) AI pipelines and integrate seamlessly with enterprise APIs and external systems
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as TOGAF Practitioner, CDMP (Associate), or Zachman Associate are considered a plus.
Education / Experience
5+ years of experience in Data Architecture, or a similar role, with a proven track record of architecting and designing enterprise grade analytical and AI products
2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry
1+ years of experience in AI Architecture and emerging technology.
Experience maintaining the vision, roadmap, and current landscape for technical solutions, and assessing the impacts of initiatives on risk and application landscapes.
Technical Skills
in-depth knowledge in Snowflake (mandatory), DBT, Talend, Cortex AI, NLP pipelines, embeddings, semantic search, RAG, Generative AI, and Agentic AI systems
Proficiency in creating Conceptual & Logical Data Models, Taxonomies, and Ontologies for solutions and interfaces.
Ability to define and drive reference architectures, patterns, NFRs, and fitness functions.
Strong capability to drive external technology trends and assess feasibility for the solution, including conducting vendor assessments.
Additional Qualities
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and successfully build consensus.
Proactive mindset to identify opportunities to enhance value and business processes, improve existing solutions, and manage technical debt.
