About the role

An exciting new opportunity has become available for an Electrical Engineer to join our Energy Assets division.

The Tomago Battery is a 500-Megawatt grid scale battery being constructed by AGL.
Working with the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring contractor performance and providing guidance to ensure adherence to project & quality requirements as per AGL & Australian IEC standards.

Please note, this is a site-based role in Tomago NSW.   

Key responsibilities

  • Scrutinise and monitor all electrical/instrumentation/SCADA construction activities carried out by contractors on-site.
  • Ensure that contractors adhere to the approved construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Follow up with contractors and relevant AGL team members to facilitate close out and documentation of issues identified while monitoring the activities undertaken on site.
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are introduced and adhered to.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify the quality of workmanship, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all construction activities, including daily electrical progress reports, inspection reports, and quality control documentation.

About you

You will be an established Electrical Engineer with a willingness to learn and prior exposure to sites / heavy industrial settings. Your ‘safety first’ mindset & strong understanding Electrical Engineering standards will set you up for success in this role.

In addition to the above, you will have:

  • A tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering
  • High degree of pro-activity/ self-driven initiative, able to work independently where required.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage Intellectual Property.
  • Prior experience in Power Generation / Renewable Energy is an advantage, however not essential.
