Shipping/Receiving Clerk
Job Description:
SUMMARY
Prepares product shipments for delivery to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows all company safety rules and policies.
Coordinates product shipments and freight carrier selection per company policy or customer requirements to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
Interfaces with Segment Customer Service team regarding scheduling shipments, changing delivery dates or addresses and split shipping.
Prepares carrier shipping documents.
Communicates with drivers to assign loads and answer driver inquires.
Participates in finished goods inventory and cycle counts
Performs additional tasks as assigned by management or as the situation requires.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required
2 years’ experience in traffic coordination or shipping required
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Good communication skills
Ability to use ERP systems to record transactions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days and at the times scheduled by the supervisor.
Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive manner
Working temperatures vary with seasonal changes where climate control is limited. The environment is one in which noise exists.
Sit on a forklift, stand, and/or walk for a combined minimum of eight (8) hours per day on a concrete surface.
Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds. Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistance
May perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees and arms while performing duties.
Pull and push up to 100 pounds.
Handle small hand tools and power tools. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.
Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.
Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms).
Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards.
Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves and sleeves, hearing protection, dust masks, and safety shoes).
Hours of Work
Monday – Friday – 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and OT when required. Occasional Saturday hours.
