Northrop Grumman - Strategics Deterrent Systems (SDS) division is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineering Technical Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals. This full-time position will be based in Roy, UT, and will provide technical leadership and decision-making over all engineering disciplines. The incumbent will guide the flight-test campaign from concept through completion, overseeing all acquisition milestones.

What You’ll Get To Do: (Essential Functions)

  • Serve as the technical authority and primary decision maker for all milestones, including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and the subsequent flight-test phases
  • Coordinating test planning, executing hardware and software verifications, managing data-collection efforts, analyzing results, and ensuring that technical deliverables meet performance, safety, and schedule objectives
  • The Technical Lead will serve as the primary liaison to customers, range partners, and subcontractors, exercising final approval authority for drawings, analyses, test plans, and related work products
  • Write and deliver test presentations in support of program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education & experience – Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a closely-related technical discipline and at least 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD

  • Clearance – U.S. citizen eligible for a Secret (or higher) security clearance and able to obtain any program-specific clearance required

  • Requires at least 5 years leading large, cross-functional missile/launch-vehicle programs)

  • Full-lifecycle execution – Experience driving program execution through various phases of the acquisition lifecycle (System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, or flight-test execution) with experience as a technical-approval authority for drawings, analyses, test plans, or other related work products

  • Technical communication – Strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear briefings for senior leadership, customer partners, and range authorities, enabling rapid and accurate decision-making

  • Leadership & mentorship – Experienced in mentoring junior engineers and leading formal development programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Range-safety expertise – Demonstrated experience interfacing with Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) safety authorities to create and certify comprehensive data packages that satisfy applicable range-safety requirements and regulatory criteria.

  • Missile-system proficiency – Experience designing developing, testing, integrating, and/or analyzing missile systems and subsystems (propulsion, aerodynamics, flight-control, structures, and/or guidance-navigation-control).

  • Test-campaign leadership – Experience related to flight-test campaigns, including planning, execution and data capture, and post-test analysis.

  • Process-improvement champion – Initiated and institutionalized process improvements that became organization-wide best-practice templates.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
