Senior Wet Utility Engineer

Summary:

The candidate will be responsible, on behalf of the Royal Commission (client), for reviewing the design, providing guidance; checking and ensuring Engineering Quality Design of independent Engineering firms that are carrying out the detailed engineering design of the site preparation and site developments within Jubail Industrial City. The responsibilities include also providing the assurance that the Royal Commission (client) technical requirements are respected in the design and that the optimum designs are achieved.  The Candidate may represent the client in technical meetings, Value Engineering analysis and is also expected to provide some limited technical support during the construction phase.

  • Provides an interface between RC Engineering and the other parties to resolve technical issues. 
  • Oversees writing and review of Technical Query’s. Provide support to Construction Department and disposition field changes by issuing DCN’s.
  • Perform civil site development design / design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines and departments for site development packages. Utilize computer and computer codes to perform site development analysis and designs.
  • Incorporates lessons learnt and best practices in standard engineering documents such as procedures, design guides, criteria and specifications.
  • Review Land Allocation Requests (LAR’s).
  • Coaches one or several individuals or teams on a specific competency or subject area.

 

Essential Technical:

  • Strong background in water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.
  • Preparing computer models (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, CulverMaster, HEC RAS, HEC HMS or approved equivalent) for hydraulic systems including distribution networks for potable water, fire water, irrigation, wastewater and drainage collection networks.
  • Adequate knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Navisworks (BIM Delivery)
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.

Preferred Technical:

  • Professional/Chartered Engineer.
  • Experience with governmental clients, reviewing hydraulic and system design by A/E, for water and wastewater facilities (new and existing)
  • Supporting RC investment and industrial departments by reviewing proposed designs submitted by the industries.
  • Strong background in pressure and gravity underground systems, lift stations and pump station design.
  • Experience in pressure transient analysis and design of mitigation measures.
  • Experience in planning and design of wet utilities.
  • Preparation of detailed design and contract deliverables such as drawings, specifications, material take off, scope of work etc.
  • Reviewing existing water and wastewater design capacities vs. requirement for compounds and commercial lots developed by private investors.
  • Providing input for planning purposes on needed expansion in water and wastewater facilities to meet expected growth. Updating forecast curves for systems, based on development demand forecast.
  • Developing and analyzing value engineering options.
  • University/College graduate with bachelor's in civil engineering or related.
  • 13+ years professional engineering with experience in Civil Engineering Design related work on large industrial and infrastructure jobs with emphasis in hydraulics.
