Role Overview The Senior Specialist, Health & Safety (H&S) works with the H&S team and site leadership to provide professional support and subject matter expertise in the areas of compliance, continuous improvement, injury, and illness prevention, reducing environmental impact, emergency preparedness, and response, inspections, and audits. This role serves as an internal advisor and change agent to coordinate, support and champion, results-oriented initiatives aimed at increasing awareness, compliance, personal accountability, and efficiency in the areas of health & safety. This role primarily supports the Bartlett, TN facility with day-to-day H&S standards and enforcement providing oversight to other warehouse facilities across the U.S. Duties & Responsibilities Occupational Injury/Illness Prevention Act as subject matter expert for health and safety across U.S warehouse facilities, primarily supporting the Bartlett, TN location Conduct inspections and audits, assessing workplace environment and working techniques to ensure compliance with company policies and occupational safety and health standards and regulations, preparing post-inspection reports and recommendations to management Provide daily guidance and direction on H&S programs, offering hands-on support and coaching to peers, salaried and hourly employees Maintain a strong presence on the production/warehouse floor in our Bartlett, TN facility to influence employee and supervisory behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process Initiate and lead safety committee, investigations, complaints, and reports of unsafe or unhealthy working conditions or behaviors, focusing on solving problems and improving business processes Work closely with H&S and site leadership to drive safety improvement programs, objectives, initiatives, and projects Examine warehouse workplace machinery and equipment to determine all safety requirements and to ensure machinery is being used properly Assist with emergency response preparedness plans including drills, practice activities, and system testing Provide ad-hoc projects related to the H&S framework on an as needed basis Continuous Improvement Support the company’s H&S philosophy and implementation plans across all warehouse locations Establish and maintain strong working relationships with site leadership and business partners to ensure communication, alignment and compliance with occupational safety and health standards and regulations Promote safety awareness through training, informational materials, regulatory interpretations, recommendations for safe work practices, and advising site workers on hazard identification and mitigation Develop and deliver H&S presentations, informational materials, and training to ensure critical information is communicated and best practices are implemented Research and recommend solutions including tools, procedures, equipment, and best practices with a continuous improvement mindset Develop and conduct training on occupational health, safety, and environmental topics Reporting and Compliance Ensure regulatory compliance with H&S permits and processes Maintain safety metrics, incident record-keeping system, investigate accidents, coordinate W/C claim handling, and ensure compliance with OSHA reporting as required Experience & Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or other Health & Safety discipline or related field Experience Minimum 6 years Experience in Health & Safety work processes or related responsibilities, preferably in manufacturing or wholesale distribution Minimum 3 years Experience with Management Systems including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Licenses and Certifications Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour General Industry course completion Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification Languages Preferred Spanish Software/Technical Skills OSHA standards (Advanced) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Skillful in managing safety standards and requirements in a warehouse facility Creative thinker with proven ability to develop and initiate H&S programs Ability to prioritize long and short-term goals Energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment Ability to grasp critical elements of a business challenge and develop a clear course of action to effectively address the challenge Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others Independent, self-starter who performs assignments with limited instructions Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data collected during business activities Additional Details for This Role This role will be an onsite role. You are expected to work from the stated job location 5 days a week. #LI-ONSITE Base Salary The targeted base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $ 105,000 per year. Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data. Additional Compensation Not a Bonus Eligible Role: This role is not eligible to participate in Brother's bonus incentive plan. The base pay accounts for the entirety of the role's annual cash compensation. About Where We Work Brother’s corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard.
