About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager who will lead a team to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑quality software and infrastructure. This role blends people leadership, delivery management, and technical guidance to create an environment where engineers thrive, systems are well‑designed, and customer needs are consistently met.

You will coach engineers, remove delivery barriers, guide technical direction, and develop a culture of continuous improvement and customer-centric engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Coaching & Engineering Excellence

  • Guide the team in applying strong engineering practices across software and infrastructure delivery.

  • Stay hands-on where needed to support critical decisions and unblock technical challenges.

  • Build domain knowledge within the team and set clear expectations around quality, reliability, maintainability, and operational readiness.

  • Establish credibility through consistent delivery and sound technical judgment.

Customer-Centric Delivery

  • Ensure the team designs, delivers, and supports software with a strong focus on customer experience.

  • Support fast, effective responses to operational issues that impact or risk impacting customers.

  • Use customer feedback and metrics to improve engineering processes, design decisions, and team performance.

Risk, Safety, and Reliability Management

  • Lead delivery practices that balance speed with safety, ensuring secure and reliable engineering outcomes.

  • Set expectations for secure coding, readiness reviews, and robust operational practices.

  • Use risk insights, data, and post-incident learnings to guide better decision-making and strengthen engineering resilience.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Own team outcomes and guide engineers through ambiguity, ensuring reliable and predictable delivery.

  • Coach engineers to grow their technical capability, problem‑solving skills, and leadership potential.

  • Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Build future engineering leaders by providing mentorship, constructive feedback, and leadership opportunities.

Data-Driven Decision Making & Improvement

  • Encourage the team to test assumptions, validate decisions with evidence, and incorporate feedback loops.

  • Use data to inform planning, prioritization, design choices, and quality improvements.

  • Support innovation and experimentation that drives measurable enhancements in engineering practices.

Adaptability & Continuous Improvement

  • Empower the team to challenge current practices and adopt improved ways of working.

  • Encourage creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving to enhance productivity and quality.

  • Invest in your own professional development and support others in strengthening their technical and leadership craft.

Communication & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Communicate priorities, goals, and expectations clearly to foster trust and alignment.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports individual and team growth.

  • Connect team work to broader business objectives and customer outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience leading engineering teams or managing delivery for technical projects.

  • Strong technical background across software engineering, infrastructure, or platform systems.

  • Ability to coach engineers, drive team performance, and lead through influence.

  • Proven track record of improving engineering practices, operational reliability, and delivery outcomes.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to guide decisions through data and clarity.
