Senior Shopify UI Designer wanted to join our dynamic Customer Experience team.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior UI Designer with strong Shopify expertise to support a fast-paced eCommerce replatform project. This role is focused on delivering high-quality, production-ready UI that aligns to Shopify capabilities, accelerates delivery, and ensures a seamless transition from the existing platform.

You will play a key role in translating approved UX and business requirements into scalable, conversion-focused UI, working across Shopify’s modular architecture while maintaining a high bar for design quality. This is a hands- on role requiring both speed and precision, with a strong understanding of how design decisions impact build, performance, and commercial outcomes.

Please bear in mind that this is a 4 week remote contract.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the UI design workstream for a Shopify replatform, translating UX outputs and requirements into high-quality, production-ready designs
  • Apply meticulous attention to detail across all UI deliverables, ensuring consistency in layout, spacing, typography, interaction states, and responsive behaviour
  • Design and refine key eCommerce templates and experiences, including homepage, PLP, PDP, cart, and checkout, with a strong focus on usability, merchandising, and conversion
  • Work closely with developers to ensure designs are feasible within Shopify (Liquid, themes, sections/blocks, and app integrations) and optimised for efficient implementation
  • Adapt and evolve design systems to align with Shopify’s modular architecture (templates, sections, and blocks), ensuring components are reusable, scalable, and intuitive to manage within the theme editor
  • Design with both end users and internal merchant teams in mind, balancing flexibility and control to ensure the site is not only visually strong, but also usable and maintainable post-launch
  • Confidently flex between rapid iteration and high-fidelity execution, delivering polished UI at pace without compromising quality
  • Produce clear, structured design documentation and handover assets, including component behaviour, states, and responsive logic, to enable efficient development and reduce ambiguity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, aligning on UI direction, managing feedback, and ensuring delivery against tight timelines
  • Create supporting visual assets and prototypes (e.g. stakeholder presentations, research artefacts, release visuals) to aid alignment, communication, and validation

What we want from you:

  • Proven experience delivering Shopify projects, ideally including replatforms or large-scale redesigns
  • Strong understanding of Shopify platform capabilities and constraints, including themes, templates, sections, blocks, and app ecosystems
  • Deep UI craft with a meticulous attention to detail, particularly across responsive behaviour, interaction states, and visual consistency
  • Experience working with and adapting design systems, with a strong understanding of component logic, scalability, and reuse
  • Ability to think in modular systems, designing components that work effectively within Shopify’s theme editor and support flexible content management
  • Strong awareness of eCommerce best practices, including merchandising, product storytelling, and conversion optimisation
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, producing well-structured, developer-friendly files
  • Ability to work at pace within tight timelines, balancing speed, quality, and feasibility
  • Strong collaboration skills, particularly when working closely with developers to ensure smooth translation from design to build
  • Comfortable working across multiple brands or visual identities, adapting UI while maintaining consistency and quality
