Description
The Project Planning team is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing the accomplishment of all engineering projects. Engineering projects span regulatory, safety, and reliability.
The Senior Planning Specialist is responsible for the planning, execution readiness, cross-functional coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives that support engineering-driven projects. This role involves management of Engineering Authorizations (EA) with day-to-day operational teams while also providing input on strategic initiatives that improve plan accuracy, execution reliability, and project outcomes.
This position is responsible for managing EA plans for regulatory, safety, and reliability projects for multiple focus areas (fleet or functional aircraft system). The Senior Planning Specialist will coordinate with all key stakeholders within Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure projects are executable, effective and completed in a timely manner. The position involves leveraging data and processes to drive continuous improvements, make critical decisions, and present insights to stakeholder teams.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and implement maintenance plans of engineering projects
Coordinate with key stakeholders in Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning on engineering projects to ensure timely accomplishment within tracked metrics
Conduct data mining, modeling, and data visualization to drive continuous improvement and to present insights to key stakeholders
Perform cost-benefit and impact analyses to inform engineering project accomplishment strategies
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
- Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business or relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in planning, strategy, or equivalent role
- 3+ years of experience in managing projects
- Knowledge of aircraft systems, structures or maintenance programs
- Experience using data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (e.g. statistical, optimization, simulation, spreadsheet)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact at all levels and team with all business partners
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
- Creative thinking and problem solving skills

- Master's degree
- Master’s degree, MBA, or advanced studies in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Experience in airline planning or analysis functions
- Project Management or Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, PowerBI)
- Knowledge of SQL or other programming languages
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance planning
- Knowledge of supply chain processes
- Knowledge of airline finance
