Senior Operations Manager, Fulfillment
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end operations within Thrive Market’s e-commerce fulfillment center, ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable execution across all functional areas. This role owns performance outcomes across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement, while building strong leadership bench strength and driving continuous improvement.
The Senior Operations Manager partners closely with cross-functional teams including HR, Safety, Maintenance, Engineering, Inventory Control, Transportation, and Customer Experience to deliver a best-in-class member experience while supporting Thrive Market’s mission to make healthy living accessible and affordable.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance across assigned departments (Inbound, Outbound, Inventory Control, or Multi-Area scope depending on site needs)
- Lead execution of production plans to meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs), throughput targets, and cost goals
- Translate business objectives into clear operational priorities and execution plans for Operations Managers and frontline leaders
- Ensure operational readiness during peak periods, promotions, and volume fluctuations
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Operations Managers and Area Managers
- Build leadership bench strength through succession planning, talent assessment, and performance management
- Drive accountability through clear expectations, regular feedback, and data-driven performance reviews
- Foster a culture of inclusion, engagement, and high performance aligned with Thrive Market’s values
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and best practices
- Partner with Safety and HR to investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and reduce risk
- Ensure safe work methods, ergonomic practices, and associate training are consistently followed
- Lead safety audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure fulfillment accuracy, order quality, and packaging standards meet Thrive Market expectations
- Partner with Quality, ICQA, and Customer Experience teams to reduce defects and member complaints
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and drive sustainable corrective actions
- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and improve efficiency
- Analyze operational metrics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Standardize best practices and ensure SOP adherence across shifts and departments
- Partner with Engineering and Maintenance on process design, layout optimization, and equipment utilization
- Own departmental labor planning, productivity, and cost control
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators including: Safety (incident rates, near misses), Productivity (UPH, labor efficiency), Quality (defects, accuracy), Cost (labor, overtime, shrink), and Engagement (turnover, attendance)
- Support budget planning and cost-saving initiatives
- Partner with Inventory Control to ensure inventory accuracy and operational flow
- Collaborate with Transportation and Logistics on outbound execution and carrier performance
- Work closely with HR on workforce planning, engagement initiatives, and corrective action processes
- Align with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure equipment uptime and operational scalability
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in e-commerce, fulfillment, distribution, or manufacturing operations
- 3+ years leading managers of managers in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, labor planning, and performance management
- Proven experience driving safety, productivity, and quality improvements
- Ability to analyze data, interpret KPIs, and make informed operational decisions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in high-growth or peak-driven e-commerce environments
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification
- Experience launching new processes, departments, or buildings
- Familiarity with WMS (ideally Highjump)

JOB INFORMATION
- Compensation Description - The starting salary range for this position is between $100K - $120K
- Salary may increase over time based upon: skill, level of responsibility, additional duties, seniority, quantity or quality of production or other legitimate, business-related factors.
