What you will be doing
As a Senior .NET Developer, you will provide technical leadership and assurance for applications supporting mission‑critical Public Sector services. You will design, enhance, and support secure, resilient systems using modern .NET and responsible Generative AI practices.
This role goes beyond delivery, owning system health, supportability, and long‑term sustainability in live production environments.
What will keep you busy
- Design, build, and support complex .NET systems that operate at scale
- Own critical services, APIs, or application components
- Lead root cause analysis for incidents and systemic issues
- Ensure solutions are operable, supportable, and well‑documented
- Lead the responsible use of Generative AI in:
- Code modernisation and refactoring
- Accelerated defect diagnosis and log analysis
- Test coverage and regression analysis
- Define guardrails for AI use within the team
- Ensure AI application aligns to public sector risk and compliance expectations
- Set and uphold coding, security, and quality standards
- Proactively manage and reduce technical debt
- Embed monitoring, logging, and resiliency patterns
- Influence design decisions to balance speed, stability, and risk
- Lead improvements to CI/CD and release processes
- Support cloud‑native and hybrid hosting models (Azure preferred)
- Drive operational excellence through automation where appropriate
- Apply and promote good coding practices through code reviews that support clean design, follow standards, and help build team capability
- Continuous drive for consistency and improvements in Coding standards
- Mentor developers in support and delivery practices
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to delivery and operations teams
- Work closely with Architects, Technical Leads, and Service Managers
The skills you will bring
Essential
- Extensive experience with C# and modern .NET
- Strong background supporting production, high‑availability systems
- Experience designing secure and resilient architectures
- Strong DevOps and CI/CD capability
- Cloud experience (Azure strongly preferred)
- Experience working in regulated or public sector environments
Desirable
- Experience applying Generative AI in enterprise or support contexts
- Microservices or distributed systems experience
- Containerisation (Docker / Kubernetes)
- ITIL and service management awareness
- Experience with Java is an advantage
