Senior Legal Counsel Competition Law (m/f/d)

Bonn | Full-time | Permanent

 

Your responsibilities

  • Advise Group companies and senior management on mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, including all related antitrust and competition law requirements
  • Assert and enforce claims (in particular damages) arising from competition law infringements, and defend the company against corresponding claims brought by third parties
  • Provide subject‑matter support to the global Competition Know‑How Group, facilitating the exchange of expertise, best practices and legal developments in antitrust and competition law
  • Prepare and deliver internal trainings for employees and leaders on antitrust and competition law topics
  • Advise on and contribute to global M&A activities, including negotiating M&A agreements (e.g., NDAs, SPAs, JVAs) and coordinating with internal stakeholders, external law firms, advisors and relevant committees
  • Monitor legal developments, precedents and legislative initiatives in the relevant areas of law
  • Develop and enhance policies, strategies and processes in the relevant legal fields to prevent antitrust violations and improve compliance workflows
 

Your profile

  • Law degree and qualification as a fully licensed lawyer (Second State Examination or equivalent)
  • Many years of relevant professional experience in antitrust and merger control, ideally gained in an international company or global law firm
  • Experience coordinating antitrust and merger control proceedings and working with competition authorities
  • Initial exposure to M&A topics and a strong interest in economic and commercial matters
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, combined with a structured and independent working style
  • Excellent communication skills, confident appearance and professional stakeholder and negotiation management in an international environment
  • Very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken
