The Network Data Center Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the data center network infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, scalability, and security of network systems within the data center environment. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and deliver reliable solutions aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure (switches, load balancers) in data center environments.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades for network hardware and software.
  • Implement and enforce network security protocols.
  • Collaborate with server, storage, and application teams to support integrated solutions.
  • Document network topology, configurations, and procedures.
  • Conduct capacity planning and recommend improvements for scalability and redundancy.
  • Respond to and resolve network incidents, outages, and service requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain F5 BIG-IP devices (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, APM).
  • Design and implement load balancing, SSL offloading, and application security policies.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues related to F5 appliances and services.
  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Manage firmware upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management for F5 devices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Implement and manage iRules and automation scripts for traffic management.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and training to teams as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response as required.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Min 7+ years in IT and 3+ years of hands-on experience with F5 technologies (BIG-IP LTM, GTM, ASM, APM).
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a data center environment.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
  • Experience with iRules, automation (Python, Ansible), and REST API integration.
  • Experience with Cisco and Juniper network equipment.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds,etc.).
  • Understanding of network security principles and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) are a plus
  • F5 certifications (F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator, Technical Specialist) preferred.
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
  • Scripting/automation experience (Python, Ansible, etc.).
  • Knowledge of SDN (Software Defined Networking) technologies.
  • Experience in large-scale, multi-site data centers.
  • Knowledge of other load balancing solutions (Citrix, NGINX).
