Senior Engineering Manager
Location: Hyderabad, India (Onsite)
Reports to: SQT Engineering Leadership

Role Overview:
As a Senior Engineering Manager within Battlefield SQT, you will set the technical and organizational direction for a Hyderabad-based engineering pod focused on accelerating Quality Verification (QV) Delivery through automation and AI-driven solutions. You will be accountable for building and scaling the team, shaping a multi-quarter roadmap, and delivering products that materially improve testing throughput, time-to-signal, and quality of decision-making for Battlefield teams.
This role is hands-on in leadership and strategy: you will partner with QV leadership, Technical Directors, Producers, and central technology groups to define priorities, drive adoption, and ensure the solutions we ship are secure, resilient, performant, and easy to use at scale.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Org Development
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing engineering organization in Hyderabad (including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development).
  • Establish clear team operating mechanisms: goals/OKRs, execution cadence, ownership boundaries, and decision-making forums that enable autonomy with accountability.
  • Develop technical leaders and future managers; create succession plans and role clarity across senior ICs, leads, and managers as the org grows.
  • Foster an inclusive culture grounded in craftsmanship, measurable outcomes, and strong collaboration with QV and partner engineering teams.
2. Technical Strategy & Architecture
  • Own the technical strategy for QV optimization tooling balancing near-term impact with long-term platform scalability and maintainability.
  • Drive architectural decisions for systems spanning automation frameworks, data pipelines, telemetry/log analytics, workflow orchestration, and AI/ML services.
  • Set engineering standards for reliability (SLOs), performance, security, privacy, and observability; ensure compliance with EA and studio policies.
  • Evaluate build-vs-buy and vendor options; define integration patterns that fit Battlefield s pipelines and studio realities.
3. Delivery, Operations & Quality
  • Own delivery outcomes end-to-end: roadmap definition, scoping, sequencing, risk management, and predictable execution across multiple initiatives.
  • Define and monitor KPIs that prove impact (e.g., reduction in manual effort, cycle time, test coverage, flake rate, time-to-triage, defect escape rates).
  • Drive disciplined engineering practices: CI/CD, automated quality gates, code review norms, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Operate services responsibly: incident response, post-incident learning, backlog hygiene, and on-call/operational readiness where applicable.
4. Stakeholder Management & Influence
  • Partner closely with QV Delivery and Production to identify high-leverage workflow opportunities and prioritize based on measurable value.
  • Communicate progress, trade-offs, and risks to senior stakeholders with clarity; influence without authority across multiple studios and time zones.
  • Lead change management for tool adoption training, enablement, feedback loops, and iteration until solutions become part of daily workflows.
5. Resource & Portfolio Management
  • Plan and manage staffing and capacity across the portfolio; make pragmatic trade-offs to maximize value delivery.
  • Contribute to budgeting and vendor management where needed; ensure external work (if used) meets quality and security expectations.
  • Create mechanisms to measure ROI and sustain solutions long-term (support model, ownership, and depreciation strategy).
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 5+ years in people leadership roles (Engineering Manager or similar).
  • Proven track record building and scaling teams that deliver complex internal products, platforms, or developer tools used by non-engineering audiences.
  • Strong systems and architecture background: ability to guide design decisions across services, data, integration, and operational reliability.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering automation and/or AI-enabled solutions with measurable business impact (e.g., workflow automation, classification/triage, summarization, intelligent assistants).
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, and modern CI/CD; strong metric-driven approach to execution and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including presenting to senior leadership and aligning across multiple organizations.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with game development pipelines and large-scale testing environments.
  • Experience with telemetry, log analytics, or data platforms at scale.
  • Experience leading multi-team initiatives across geographies, including managing managers or tech leads.
  • Background in applied ML/LLM systems in production, including evaluation, safety, and monitoring practices.
Why You ll Love This Role
  • Direct impact on the Battlefield player experience by improving the technical quality of the signal and release confidence.
  • Opportunity to build and lead a new engineering capability in Hyderabad with high visibility and ownership.
  • Work on practical, high-leverage AI and automation problems reducing repetitive effort and accelerating decision-making for QV teams.
  • Collaborate with talented engineers, QV leaders, and studio partners across Battlefield and EA.
