Senior Concept Design Engineer Job Objective Preparation of design solutions for complete devices, assemblies and components Projecting device design within the context of development projects in agreement with the superior Duties and Responsibilities A Projecting device design for development projects in agreement with the superior 1 Clarifying and defining design requirements with the customer in the form of specified project descriptions, analyzing design expenditure 2 Agreeing and following up targets with the project manager in terms of quality, costs and timing in agreement with the superior and taking existing processes and methods into consideration 3 Defining, planning, coordinating and monitoring design tasks within the device design process of a development project, using prescribed methods and systems (incl. TtM), if necessary in agreement with the superior 4 Involvement in the integration of internal and external services if necessary, taking economic, qualitative and scheduling points of view into consideration and in cooperation with the superior 5 Involvement in and/or implementation of defined escalation scenarios whenever deviations from targets occur in device design; showing existing alternative solutions 6 Ensuring that defined technical standards are being observed within the context of design; involving Preliminary Development and Production Technology in the agreement of product concepts and technological alternatives. B Preparation of design solutions for complete devices, assemblies and components 1 Preparation of a performance specification on the basis of the existing requirement specification 2 Working out design drafts on the basis of CAD data provided by the customer with regard to device design, assemblies and parts, taking technical and economical aspects into account 3 Drawing up design solutions taking functional, material-related, technical production and economical aspects into account; drawing up selected designs for detailing 4 Agreeing new or changed designs over the whole design process (quotation, concept and detailing phase) with the departments involved such as Process Planning, Quality Planning, Design and Laboratory, if necessary in agreement with the superior 5 Implementation and arrangement of detailing work for devices, assemblies and parts; preparation of all the necessary 3D documents 6 Selection of the materials and standards to be used; specification of tolerances and checking up on drawings 7 Preparing the (design) FMEA for the complete device, taking customer requirements into account Arranging for tests (mechanical, mechatronic, photometric, thermal) on sample devices, integration of results in the design 9 Continual preparation, interpretation and implementation of relevant technical information from internal and external positions, if necessary in agreement with the superior 10 Arranging for designs to be checked in terms of industrial property rights 11 Involvement in the preparation of preliminary calculations in agreement with the superior 12 Involvement in the specification of the tests to be carried out in cooperation with Quality Planning taking internal, customer-specified and legal requirements into account 13 Specification of tolerances on geometries as well as implementing of analyse-projects by usage of simulation-templates 14 Creating tolerance classifications for individual modules as well as coordinate of the related application and compliance
