ABOUT Our Construction Delay - Defect team  

When it comes to understanding the details that have an impact on costly and disruptive design deficiency, construction delays, defect, and related construction damages, we have built a reputation that stands above all with decades of experience as engineers, project managers, architects, schedulers, and accountants. Our team is trusted for their sophisticated delay standard of care and construction defect analysis.  We are involved in the most distinguished projects around the world, including notable buildings, infrastructure, power & utilities, and oil & gas works. That's why our team was honored as Who's Who Legal's Construction Expert Witness Firm of the Year for 2024. 

SENIOR ASSOCIATE RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Standard of Care and Construction Defect Analysis 

  • Participate in thorough technical reviews of existing buildings including site visits and document analysis.   

  • Evaluate building performance and compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.   

  • Identify deficiencies and defects in building systems and components.  

  • Develop remediation based on scientific evidence and best practices in building and material science.   

  • Investigate standards of care for design professionals, general contractors, and subcontractors across multiple project types.   

  • Develop clear, accurate and comprehensive written reports summarizing findings, analyses, and recommendations.   

  • Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders, including legal professionals.   

  • Management 

  • Share information and apply lessons learned to contribute to the development of junior staff. 

  • Delegate tasks effectively, setting clear expectations of delivery and accountability. 

  • Provide assistance and creatively solve problems as needed. 

  • Exhibit initiative and encourage others in their own development. 

  • Engage with Directors in activities such as recruiting, training and development to enhance the team. 

  • Deliver presentations and other communications in an articulate and confident manner. 

  • Manage teams and projects demonstrating emotional intelligence. 

  • Continuously strive to obtain specialist knowledge. 

SENIOR ASSOCIATE QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural engineering. Master’s degree preferred. 

  • Professional licensure as a Registered Architect (R.A.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.), preferred. 

  • three to five years’ experience working in the construction or design industry. 

  • Knowledge of construction contracts, construction documents, building code, local laws, construction requirements, and related building industry standards. 

  • Experience in building evaluation, forensic analysis, and construction document review, preferred.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to accurately provide graphical documentation of as-built construction and existing conditions. 

  • Strong skills using relevant software tools: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, SharePoint, Access) and Bluebeam or Adobe Pro. 

  • Ability to travel as needed (generally under 40% but may vary). 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team. 

  • Flexible, creative problem-solving skills  

  • Active engagement and participation in relevant industry organizations.
