The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Analyst to join our Corporate Planning and Strategy team. This role will support many key strategic deliverables, including the Canadian annual strategic review process, thorough analysis of both internal and external data in collaboration with the business to develop strategy and support the Financial Planning process, and liaising with Group strategy colleagues on regular deliverables. The ideal candidate will be a power user of Excel and PowerPoint, capable of transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct research, analyze data, formulate insights, produce reports, and slide content as needed, and combine market intelligence perspectives and qualitative and quantitative data

  • Work closely with internal business leaders across Aviva to assemble market intelligence, assess capabilities and benchmark performance

  • Produce supporting materials for Executive office, Group executive presentations, board meetings (Aviva plc, and Canada), and various departments as required to communication information and ideas effectively and simply

  • Independently drive analysis to arrive at options and recommendations using a hypothesis and data-driven approach, liaising with Finance, Analytics and Actuarial teams

  • Support the research & development of perspectives on emerging industry trends

  • Curate and contribute to a centralized depository of competitive intelligence data along with providing meaningful commentary on the significance to Aviva, highlighting risks and opportunities

  • Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests from senior leadership

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field with a data-focused background; CPA, CFA, or actuarial exam progression is an asset

  • Basic competitor and market knowledge with a general understanding of available sources of internal/external insight

  • Familiarity with P&C industry data sources (e.g. MSA) is an asset

  • Experience with financial analysis supporting strategy formation – e.g. scenario modelling, business case development, cost-benefit analysis

  • Outstanding relationship-builder comfortable forming relationships with colleagues/stakeholders at all levels of seniority

  • Executive-level communication: exceptional written presentation skills, with the ability to prepare factual and impactful presentation decks to express complex ideas

What you'll get

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000.00 to $95,000.00. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity
