What You'll Do

As a Senior Analyst – BCG Vantage on our Topic Activation path within BCG's Energy Practice Area you will work in a growing global team, providing industry/functional expertise and insights whilst working together with case and proposal teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis and expert advisory. You’ll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues. 

 

You will support commercialization efforts for the topic/sector working, in conjunction with business leaders, through contributing analysis and insights to proposals, client workshops and marketing materials. Additionally, as a Senior Analyst – BCG Vantage, you will contribute to developing intellectual property & assets for the business and assist in onboarding and training junior colleagues based on your topic/sector expertise. 

 

YOU'RE GOOD AT  

  • Solving client problems through formulating relevant research and/or analytical approaches in your Power & Utilities, particularly energy networks 
  • Understanding gas and power utilities business and operation models, specifically within the US regulatory framework 
  • Having knowledge of network structures and topologies across both electric and gas systems. You have knowledge of key components in electric T&D (high/medium voltage lines, substations) as well as gas infrastructure (pipelines, pressure regulation) 
  • Navigating emerging critical topics mainly in the US energy sector, such as Data Center power demand, gas infrastructure modernization, AI applications in utility operations, and the evolving regulatory landscape 
  • Communicating with case teams and stakeholders, in a credible and confident way 
  • Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working 
  • Being flexible and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas 
  • Navigating complexity and ambiguity 



What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of consulting experience in relevant sector/topic required; candidates with consulting experience strongly preferred 
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 3+ years minimum industry experience required; 4-6+ years of industry experience strongly preferred 
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred), preferably in industrial or another Engineering. Other advanced degrees are accepted as well, e.g. Economics or Physics 
  • Fluency in English; other languages (Spanish / German / French in particular) are a plus 
  • Proficiency in Excel with deep experience in building large, dynamic models and simulation tools to support business cases 
  • Familiarity with gas hydraulic modelling, capacity planning, or network constraint analysis is considered a plus. We value candidates who understand how to simulate flow dynamics and optimize gas infrastructure performance 
  • Familiarity with FERC reporting and EIA and PUC filings is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini. Experience with Python and tools like GitHub Copilot for research, task automation, data processing, and integration with AI APIs is a plus 
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities as well as written and verbal communication skills

In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach.

 

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

  • The base salary range for this role begins at $100,500. in our lowest cost US region and goes up to $108,500 in our highest cost US region. Your recruiting contact can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

 

This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.

 

In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 16% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
