About The Role
Fora is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the company’s international expansion and strengthen a growing finance function. The Senior Accountant will own meaningful areas of the month end close, help maintain accounting integrity and controls, and play a key role in scaling processes as Fora grows. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accountant who wants both ownership and growth. The person in this seat will influence how accounting evolves, gain visibility into how the business operates, and step into a role that values judgment, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily, weekly, and month end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, roll forwards, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation
- Own specific close areas such as balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, revenue related entries, and select international accounting workflows
- Support accounts receivable and accounts payable operations including invoice creation, customer setup, cash application, and reconciliations
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, documentation standards, and internal controls
- Partner with cross functional teams to support financial reporting, business operations, and system workflows
- Collaborate with external auditors and assist with annual audit preparation
- Identify and recommend improvements to streamline close timelines and enhance process scalability
- Work with FP&A partners on budget monitoring, variance explanations, and financial insights
- Contribute to implementing new tools, systems, and accounting processes to support growing transaction volume and expanding international footprint
- Support ad hoc projects, reporting, and strategic initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 3 plus years of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or corporate accounting experience, or 5 plus years in small to medium business accounting
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookup functions, and advanced formulas, with comfort working with large datasets
- Hands on experience with accounting or finance systems such as QuickBooks, Netsuite, Campfire, Ramp, Sage Intacct, Mercury, or Metabase
- Experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Demonstrated ownership of month end close responsibilities including balance sheet and income statement components
- Experience with accrual accounting, revenue, or complex accounting estimates
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem solving skills
- Detail oriented, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast paced, evolving environment
- Able to work in the US and currently based in NYC or willing to relocate
Strongly Preferred
- Experience working with external auditors
- Experience improving close timelines
- Experience implementing new tools or workflows
- US federal tax filing experience and/or state tax filing experience
- Bi-lingual Spanish-English or Portuguese-English
Compensation
Compensation for this role varies based on experience, with an indicative range of $70K–$100K + equity. Final compensation will depend on the level at which the candidate is hired, as we’re considering multiple levels for this role.
