Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets

The Senior Accountant - Fixed Assets is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reporting. This role ensures accurate accounting treatment, compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and supports financial reporting and audits while partnering with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation methodologies, and a solid knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP. They bring hands-on experience with ERP and fixed asset systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Acumatica, Sage) and demonstrate advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis. This individual is highly detail-oriented, organized, and possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. They communicate effectively and collaborate well across cross-functional teams. Experience in capital-intensive industries, familiarity with lease accounting standards like ASC 842, and a background in fast-paced or high-growth environments are preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, or progress toward certification, preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of cost accounting with a focus on fixed assets or general ledger.
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and maintains the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of asset records.
- Reviews and capitalizes assets in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP).
- Calculates and records depreciation and amortization, ensuring timely and accurate monthly processing.
- Tracks asset additions, transfers, retirements, and disposals.
- Reconciles fixed asset subledger to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepares and posts journal entries related to fixed assets, including depreciation, accruals, and adjustments.
- Leads month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to fixed assets.
- Supports capital expenditure (CapEx) tracking, reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Partners with Project Managers, Procurement, and Operations to ensure proper asset classification and capitalization.
- Maintains and enforces internal controls over fixed asset processes and reporting.
- Supports internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
- Prepares fixed asset roll forwards, reports, and financial statement disclosures.
- Identifies and implements process improvements, including automation and system enhancements.
- Assists with ERP system maintenance or implementations related to fixed assets.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
